Gong Cave, The East Java caving tourism

If you are planning to travel to the East Java region, Indonesia, do not miss to stop by in Pacitan. In Pacitan, there is a decent place for you to visit, Gong cave. Discovered about 1924, Gong cave shows the beauty of an art from mother nature that will impress anyone while visiting there. In fact, Gong cave was ever claimed as one of the most beautiful caves among other caves in Southeast Asia.

This cave is about 37 kilometers southwest from Pacitan precisely in Bomo village, sub Punung, Pacitan. The Gong cave placed in a hiding located , before entering to the Gong cave, every travelers have to walk about 100 meters to get to the mouth of the cave.

To exploring this cave, it takes for one hour at a distance of about 300 meters. But don’t worry, this cave has been given lighting and designed to make it easier for visitors to explore its beauty.

Inside the cave you will be presented with a view of stalactites and stalagmites that lined harmonious form an art work created by nature.

There are seven rooms inside the cave that you can explore, the first room is called the Spring Angel with a small and cold water source. The second room is a space Angel, which is said, there often seen beautiful woman shadows.

In the third and fourth space, there are lots of crystal rocks and marble which are formed very beautiful. The fifth room is the largest room, it is reported have held 4 country concerts music inside here.

The sixth room is a space of Hermitage and seventh space is the room of Gong rock, wherein if the stone is struck will sound like the Javanese Gamelan Gong. Gong Cave has only one access door, to enter and exit it used the same door.

Gong Cave travel tips :

  1. Use anti slippery footwear to explore the cave.
  2. It is recommended to bring a flashlight before you explore inside the cave , although there have been lighting.
  3. Obey the rules for being in the cave and avoid damaging activities.
  4. For tourists who have respiratory problems are advised to beware of thin oxygen conditions.
  5. Avoid visiting at Indonesian national holiday, so that you can enjoy your trip and comfortable for caving.
